On Tuesday 3 July, ZID Theater was happy to receive the Golden Kaleidoscope award from the Fund for Cultural Participation. On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the fund awarded a Golden Kaleidoscope in each of the 12 Dutch provinces. ZID Theater receives this award for the project Love in Times of… in the province of Utrecht. This three-year project took place in Amsterdam, The Hague, and Amersfoort. Around the theme of ‘love’, three productions were realised together with local residents as actors and with the help of a number of professionals. The artistic project leader and director of the Amsterdam group was Karolina Spaić, leader of ZID.

With the project Love in Times of… ZID has demonstrated the effectiveness of its contemporary and idiosyncratic work methods: participants, young and old and from various cultural backgrounds, with hardly any knowledge or experience of art, worked with professionals and eventually performed with them on stage. In all, forty neighbourhood actors from three cities took part in the project. At the same time, ZID maintained its high artistic standards. The production Love Now was performed in many theatres and at festivals in the Netherlands, Serbia, and Denmark. Next summer Love Now will be presented in Poland. The performance is still available for interested theatres and festivals.
Currently, ZID’s team and its neighbourhood actors are working on a new production, Lost City, which will premiere during the ExploreZ Festival. The ExploreZ Festival, 22 – 30 September, is organised by ZID and features guest performers from both the Netherlands and abroad.
