Sweet & Salty in the Big Apple
Following a successful performance in the Meervaart theatre in Amsterdam and winning the Movisie Audience Award with our community art project Sweet & Salty, ZID Theater have now been invited by the renowned research centre Eastside Institute for a presentation at the Performing the World Conference 2010 – Can Performance Change the World? Karolina and Sebo will give guest lectures and have exchange meetings with international theatre companies and organisations that work in a similar way as ZID. The conference will be held in New York on 30 September and 1, 2 and 3 October. The invitation to ZID fits in very well with our wish to present this project in an international setting.

On sundag the 24th Zid theatre will celebrate with the whole staff and the performers teh winning of the audience price 2009. We will take time to look back and as well look forward.

Sweet & Salty at Holland Doc

On the VPRO’s Holland Doc website Sweet & Salty is mentioned as a very special project. Part of the Century of the City theme was the Dream City project, where people could submit their initiatives for and ideas about a liveable city. Unfortunately, Sweet & Salty came too late to participate in Dream City that it's still got some attention here. Click here to visit the Holland Doc website.

Sweet & Salty wins audience price!
Gathering 26.3% of all votes, Sweet & Salty by ZID Theater Foundation and Lize Foundation won the Audience Award of the Movisie Art and Culture Festival. The film and the project were selected from 140 community art projects from both the Netherlands and abroad. An expert jury finally nominated 12 projects for awards, including Sweet & Salty. This is proof for us that Sweet & Salty should continue both in Amsterdam New West and in other cities in the Netherlands and also abroad. We will keep you informed of new developments. On 24 November, we proudly accepted the award. For press release go to: http://www.kunstencultuurvoorjewijk.nl

Workshop at Pluspunt

On 20 November, Sebo Bakker and Karolina Spaic gave workshops about the “Sweet & Salty” project at Pluspunt, the centre of expertise for senior citizens and participation in Rotterdam. It was a festive conference that celebrated the 10th anniversary of the successful project ‘Story wise’. Professionals and participants of ‘Story wise’ took part in both workshops, and before we knew it we were witnessing touching scenes about food, cooking, and unfamiliar new eating traditions. It was a successful introduction to our working method, in this instance focusing on senior citizens.

Sweet & Salty nominated for the ‘Art & Culture in your neighbourhood’ Award
ZID Theater has been nominated for the Art & Culture in your neighbourhood Award of MOVISIE for the project Sweet & Salty, in the category ‘Encounter and Cultural Heritage’. You may cast your vote for our YouTube film up to 17 November.

Films from the video site YouTube have been nominated in four categories, and as of today people can vote for their favourite clip. The best appreciated short films, from both the Netherlands and abroad, will be announced at the awards ceremony on 24 November.
